Over the next twenty years, the school grew to encompass a faculty of six and a student body of forty, all housed in Mrs. Chapin’s cramped apartment in “downtown” Princeton.

AROUND THE KORNER was established in 1997 as a before & after school care program for school-age children.
In 1998 the program expanded due to a grant from the California Department of Education. This grant enabled AROUND
THE KORNER to begin caring for sixty-three children ranging in age from birth to age 3.
Another grant was awarded in 2001 to begin early education for forty-eight preschool children. This means a child can remain in our center program through the age of 6 or when the child is ready to start Kindergarten.
All staff members are active in our state and local professional early childhood associations. They are experienced early childhood educators. All participate in a continuous program of in-service education and studies for professional advancement in order to remain alert to the ever-changing needs of today’s families and to the findings of current research. They are CPR-trained. There is one teaching staff person for every 3 children in the infant program, one teaching staff person for every 4 children in the toddler program; and one teaching staff person for every 8 children in our pre-school program.
We have three application rounds for the Class of 2020 (matriculating fall 2018): September 6, 2017, January 3, 2018 and April 2, 2018. Students applying through the 2+2 deferred admissions process must apply in the 2+2 Round by April 10, 2018.
